The 1st Smart Management of Infrastructure Webinar (SMIWeb 2020) is a free workshop directed at researchers, students, and professionals from industry interested in learning about new technologies with practical implementation in the area of smart structures technologies. The different topics are presented by senior researchers of the Smart Management of Infrastructure, SMILab (http://smilab.unm.edu/). Presentations are 10 minutes each. The emphasis is to increase awareness about future directions in smart structures that can be of interest in the next decade. The impact of these new technologies in frontier areas include, but are not limited to: wireless sensing technologies, augmented reality, computer vision, non-linear dynamics, point-cloud analysis, and artificial intelligence. The areas of implementation include design, assessment, inspection, and sensing of structures, with an emphasis on structural health monitoring.

SMILab researchers conduct their research at the Department of Civil Construction and Environmental Engineering (http://civil.unm.edu/) and the Center for Advanced Research and Computing (CARC), (http://carc.unm.edu/) both at the University of New Mexico, UNM (www.unm.edu.) UNM is famous for the creation of Matlab and conducts innovation and discovery in new research areas in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratory, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Director of SMILab is Dr. Fernando Moreu, PE, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, and cross-appointed in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UNM.
